Growing up in Tidewater, Virginia, I spent my youth on the Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic Ocean and the last 40 years on the James River. Living most of my life on the water and coming from generations of fisher-women, it is only natural that I create pottery
with nautical themes.
When time permits, I enjoy taking a departure from the nautical world and venture into
other art forms such as stained glass, fused glass, painting, woodworking and more
recently beading. Creating jewelry using a variety of beads and clay is a new challenge for me and the results have been fun and exciting.
Made of mud, clay, from the earth...whatever you choose to call it, pottery is my passion
and it is wonderful to create something that still involves skill and techniques that are
centuries old. Techniques that remind us that most of what we love is still created by the
works of our hands and imagination and not by mass production, automation and
duplication. I am one who loves to produce works of the heart as well as works of art.
